Women's Basketball Has Huge Comeback Against Vikings

CANANDAIGUA. N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team finished 2-0 on the week against the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings on Saturday. The Lakers won 86-81.

The Vikings came out ready to win on Saturday. They started off the scoring in the game. They kept it up outscoring the Lakers 20-10 in the first quarter.

The first quarter was challenging for the Lakers, but they came back in the second, scoring 25 more points. The Vikings came back hot and also scored 25 more points, keeping their deficit to ten points.

It wasn't until after halftime, that the Lakers were making their comeback move. They managed to erase the 10-point deficit to a dead tie. It was what they were looking for to end the third quarter.

The final quarter was a battle. There were eight lead changes before the Lakers finally found their permanent lead. Sarah Lacey made a layup with three minutes left of play, to boost the Lakers to their upcoming victory. They would end up winning 86-81.

The Lakers shot 34-90 in the field, which would give them a 37.8 field percentage. The Vikings shot 32-65, which gave them a 49.8 field goal percentage. It was the Laker's defense that really helped their victory.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Lacey with 31 points, 18 rebounds, and two blocks, Jamonie Cole with 25 points, and Jordan Naeye with four assists, and five steals.

The Lakers will play at home again, on Wednesday, December 5th. They will play the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers at 5:30pm.
