Women's Basketball Wins Final Home Game Of The Year

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team won their final home game of the season on Wednesday night against the Cayuga Community College Spartans. The Lakers took the win 70-61.

Wednesday night was Sophomore night for the Lakers. They honored their three Sophomores; Jackie Barclay, Morgan Maloney, and Sarah Lacey, before tip-off.

It was a tight game right from the start. The Lakers managed to end the first quarter in a tie, 19-19. The Spartans were ready to pull ahead when the second quarter started. After a made jump shot from Maloney, the Spartans started their rise to the lead. They managed to outscore the Lakers 15-12 to end the half.

After their trip to the locker room, the Lakers were determined to get this win for their Sophomores. They came out hot in the third quarter, scoring 20 points. This put them in the lead at the end of the quarter, 51-47.

It wasn't going to be an easy win for the Lakers. The Spartans were still in the game at the start of the fourth quarter. They kept trailing throughout the quarter, but were within points of the lead. After a number of fouls to end the game, the Lakers came out on top, 70-61.

The Lakers shot 26-88 in the field, giving them a field goal percentage of 29.5. The Spartans shot 25-68, giving them a 36.8 field goal percentage.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Becca Reeves with 20 points, and 12 rebounds, Amari Grady with 16 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and five steals, and Barclay with 14 points, and seven rebounds.

The Lakers will travel to Onondaga Community College on Saturday, February 16th for their final game of their regular season. Tip-off is at 1:00pm.
