Women's Basketball Lose First Game Post-Break

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball lost to the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers in their first game back from Thanksgiving break on Wednesday. The Lakers lost 63-45.

 

It looked promising for a little while for the Lakers. Sydney Passalacqua scored the first two points of the game off of a turnover from the Panthers. It would not last long. At the end of the first quarter, the Lakers were trailing 19-13.

 

The second quarter was rough for the Lakers. They only managed to score nine more points, while the Panthers scored thirteen. They went into halftime with a score of 32-22 in favor of the Panthers.

 

This was a better deficit than the Lakers have seen previously. In the third quarter, the Lakers really kicked up the intensity. They managed to outscore the Panthers 16-13. This put them at a score of 45-38. The Lakers were on their way to making a comeback.

 

The Panthers really stepped up their defense in the final quarter. They forced the Lakers to only score seven points. The Lakers defense suffered as well, and the Panthers scored 18 more points. The Lakers could not pull off the comeback. The game ended in a score of 63-45.

 

Game leaders for the Lakers were Abigail DeFisher with 22 points, nine rebounds and one block, and Becca Reeves with 11 points, four rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

 

The Lakers look to finish out their final games before the semester break with two wins. They will play next on Sunday, December 8th at home. They will start at 12:00pm.
