Women's Basketball Suffers Loss First Game Post-Break

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team suffered a loss on their first game back from winter break on Tuesday. The Lakers lost to the Bryant and Stratton Rochester Bobcats 59-48.

It took two minutes into the game before the scoring started. It was kicked off by Becca Reeves making a layup. The Lakers continued this time with a three pointer from Reeves to give them a 5-0 to start. They would eventually keep a lead going into the second quarter, 12-10.

In the second quarter, the Bobcats really stepped it up. The Lakers offense couldn't catch up to the Bobcats, and they were outscored 14-5. The Bobcats went into the locker room with a 24-17 lead.

The Lakers stepped it back up after halftime. Abigail DeFisher started sinking the shots she was putting up. The Bobcats were still on a roll and managed to score five more points than they did in the second quarter. They ended the quarter leading 43-32.

The Lakers were not going to quit trying to get their lead from the first quarter back. DeFisher kept putting up points and Brandy Morrison was right behind. The Lakers managed to limit the Bobcats points this quarter, but could not quite catch up. They ended the game with a loss to the Bobcats 59-48.

Game leaders for the Lakers were DeFisher with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks, and Reeves with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks.

The Lakers will play again on Thursday, January 9th at SUNY Broome Community College. They will have a chance to get their first conference win at 5:30pm.
