Women's Basketball Drops Two In A Row

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team dropped their second in a row against the SUNY Broome Community College Hornets on Thursday night. The Lakers lost 54-47.

It started off as an exciting first quarter for both teams. They ended the quarter tied 17-17. That was the most points the Lakers would score in a quarter. There was a similar amount of scoring in the second quarter. The Hornet scored the same amount, and the Lakers scored only four less points. That put the Hornets in the lead heading into halftime, 34-30.

The Hornets were ready to extend their lead in the third quarter. They still kept up their scoring, while the limited the Lakers to only eight more points. The Hornets kept their lead at the end of the third quarter, 47-38. The Lakers did their best to catch up in the final quarter, but they only managed to score one more point than they did in the third. They limited the Hornets to only seven points in the final quarter, but it was not enough. The Lakers lost 54-47.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Abigail DeFisher with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks, and Eliana Mitchell with nine points, four rebounds, and three steals.

The Lakers will play next on Saturday, January 11th at home. They will play the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers at 1:00pm.
