Lakers Honor Sophomores on Final Regular Season Game

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team played their final regular season game on Saturday against the Onondaga Community College Lazers. The Lakers lost 96-62.

It was a close first quarter between the Lakers and the Lazers. The first two points of the game went to the Lazers, but the Lakers were right behind them. The Lazers took the lead at the end of the quarter, 23-17.

In the second quarter, the game started to get out of the Lakers' reach. The Lazers held them to only nine points. It was a quarter full of turnovers from the Lakers. The Lazers went into the locker room up 45-26.

In the third quarter, the Lakers started to find their offense. It was their best quarter of the game. They could not hold the Lazers from scoring more though. It was still the Lazers' game at the end of the quarter 69-47.

The final quarter of the game was the Lazers' best quarter. They limited the Lakers scoring and scored 27 more points. The final score was in favor of the Lazers 96-62.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Abigail DeFisher with 21 points, seven rebounds, one steal, and three blocks, and Eliana Mitchell with 10 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals.

The Lakers honored their three sophomores, Becca Reeves, Eliana Mitchell, and Amari Grady.

The Lakers will be moving onto Regional play this weekend. They will not know their opponent until Thursday night,  but will be playing on the road at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 22nd.
