Women's Basketball Ends Season Against Red Barons

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team finished their season against the Corning Community College Red Barons on Saturday. The Lakers lost 58-49.

There was a very slow start to the game for both the Lakers and Red Barons. It took awhile before the first points of the game went on the board. The Lakers almost kept the first quarter a shut out, but eventually managed to allow only five points from the Red Barons. The Lakers won the first quarter 12-5.

The Red Barons picked up their offense in the second quarter of the game. They outscored the Lakers by four points. The deficit the Red Barons had in the first quarter was too large and the Lakers stayed on top going into halftime, 22-19.

After halftime, the Red Barons picked it up even more. The Lakers managed to score more points than they did in the second half, but so did the Red Barons. The Red Barons pulled ahead at the end of the third quarter, 37-35.

The final quarter is where the Red Barons solidified their win. They scored the most points they had all quarter. The final score was 58-49 in favor of Corning Community College.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Abigail DeFisher with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 blocks, Becca Reeves with eight points, and three rebounds, and Hannah Gent with seven points and 13 rebounds.

With this loss, the Lakers finish their 2019-20 season. They will say goodbye to sophomores Becca Reeves, Eliana Mitchell and Amari Grady
