Lakers Second-Half Struggles Prove Decisive

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team dropped their 3rd-straight match against the Vikings of Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday, November 20th. The Lakers played a close first two quarters, down 28-27 at the half. However, the Vikings second-half surge proved costly for the Lakers, as the Vikings went on a 8-0 run early in the 4th quarter to grow their lead. The Lakers struggled to mount a comeback, as the Vikings traded punches with the Lakers down the stretch.

Freshman Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) came up big in the first-half for the Lakers, dropping 15 points. Andersen finished with 24, a game high for the Lakers, also adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and pulling in 4 steals on the day.

Sophomore Izabella Santell (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) came up big for the Lakers as well, dropping 11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and grabbing 4 steals. Guard Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) added 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and pulled in 2 steals on the defensive end.

The Lakers turn around to play SUNY Adirondack tomorrow at 12 PM in a Region III matchup with the Timberwolves. The team looks to get back on track after their recent slump.
