Lakers Come Short in Conference Matchup

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team hosted their first home game of the new year against the Spartans of Cayuga Community College. The Spartans ultimately came away with the win in Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup, 53-33.

Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) was the key cog to the Laker offense on the day, erupting for 22 points and 1 assist. Andersen was active on the defensive side of the ball, pulling in 7 rebounds and 3 steals. At the guard position Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus) was active, adding 3 points and dishing out 2 assists. Querrie shined on defense, grabbing 7 rebounds and a team-high 5 steals.

Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) was active on the boards, pulling in 4 rebounds while grabbing 3 steals and scoring 2 points. Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) filled up the stat sheet, scoring 3 points while adding 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Teammate Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) had a great rebounding day from the guard position, pulling in 8 while dishing out 2 assists and scoring 3 points.

The Lakers have a quick turnaround, as the team faces the Raiders of Fulton-Montgomery Community College tomorrow January 16th at 2 PM.
