CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team played host to the Raiders of Fulton-Montgomery Community College Sunday afternoon in a NJCAA Region III showdown. The Raiders came into the contest at 1-1 and left 2-1 after a 66-35 victory over the Lakers.
Freshman guard Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) shined in the contest, going off for 20 points and 1 assist on offense, while adding 5 rebounds and 4 steals to her total as well. Teammate Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus) had an impressive afternoon for the Lakers, adding in 13 points and 2 assists on offense, while pulling in 4 rebounds and grabbing 5 steals.
Guard Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) continued her impressive rebounding stretch, grabbing a team-high 8 rebounds in the matchup, while dishing out 1 assist and grabbing 2 steals. Teammate Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) had an all-around game with 2 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 block.
The Lakers return to action next Wednesday night in a Mid-State Athletic Conference showdown with the Lazers of Onondaga Community College, with a 5:30 PM tip off.
