Lakers Fall Short in Overtime

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - In a thrilling matchup, the Laker took the Red Barons to overtime, eventually falling by a score of 54-50 in the extra period. 

The Lakers relied guards Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) and Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus). Andersen came up big in the scoring column pouring in 23 points and dishing out 1 assist, on defense, Andersen pulled in game high 7 steals, along with 7 total rebounds. Querrie helped set up her teammates, dishing out 5 assists to go with her 8 points. Querrie came up big on defense, grabbing 3 steals and pulling in 2 rebounds.

Freshman Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) put together an all-around performance, adding in 5 points, 6 rebounds and an assist and steal apiece. Teammate Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) continued her dominance on the boards, pulling in a game high 13 rebounds. Moody added 7 points in the scoring column to go along with 2 steals. On Sophomore day, Chyra Patterson (Bronx, N.Y./ Roosevelt) earned the start, sinking a 3 pointer in the first quarter.

Freshman Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) rounded out the day for the Lakers, scoring 4 points and pulling in 5 rebounds.

The Lakers return to action Monday, February 7th in a Mid-State Athletic Conference Matchup with the Hornet of SUNY Broome.
