Lakers Play Final Home Game of Regular Season

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team played their final home contest of the regular season in the Putt Moore Gymnasium against the visiting Hornets of SUNY Broome. Despite an overall strong performance from the starting 5, the Hornets edged the Lakers by a score of 53-52.

Guard Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus) recorded a double-double, with 20 points and 11 total rebounds. Querrie contributed 5 assists on offense, while recording 2 steals and 1 block on defense. Teammate Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) recorded her own double-double, with 11 points and 10 total rebounds, Andersen recorded an assist and block apiece on the night.

Freshman Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) had a strong showing on the boards, pulling in 7 rebounds, while adding 7 points on 2 of 3 shooting, and recording 3 assists on the night. Teammate Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) made the most of the start, recording 8 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block apiece.

Forward Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) recorded 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist, while teammate Chyra Patterson (Bronx, N.Y./ Roosevelt) recorded 1 rebound and 2 assists on the night.

 The Lakers conclude a 2-game homestand, looking ahead to 4-straight games on the road. The Lakers travel to Auburn, N.Y. Wednesday, February 9th in a 5 PM game against the Spartans of Cayuga Community College. The Lakers finish out there final 3 games against Onondaga, Jefferson & Tompkins Cortland Community College(s).
