Offense Struggles in Loss to Cannoneers

WATERTOWN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team was on the road Sunday afternoon in a NJCAA Region III matchup with the Cannoneers of SUNY Jefferson. The Lakers struggled to find a rhythm on offense in the matchup, leading to a final score of 87-37 in favor of the Cannoneers.

Freshman guard Mary Ellen Querrie (Romulus, N.Y./ Romulus) helped pace the offense, netting 21 points and 1 assist. On defense, Querrie corraled 3 rebounds, while grabbing 1 steal. Fellow teammate Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) added 11 points on the afternoon, while pulling in 7 rebounds and 2 steals. 

The Lakers saw scoring from Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) and Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons), who respectively netted 3 and 2 points in 40 minutes of play. Nelson added 1 assist on offense, while pulling down 4 rebounds and blocking 2 shots. Moody pulled in a team-high 8 rebounds, while swipping 3 steals on defense. Sophomore Chyra Patterson (Bronx, N.Y./ Roosevelt) 2 rebounds and 1 steal in the game.

The Lakers continue their road stretch and play their final regular season game Tuesday, February 15th on the road in Dryden, N.Y. against the Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College at 5 PM.
