Lakers Fall in Season Opener at MCC

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball kicked off the regular season on the road at Monroe Community College for a Region III matchup with the Tribunes. The Tribunes would jump out to a 21-3 advantage over the Lakers in the 1st quarter and would ride that advantage to a 86-33 win over the Lakers.

Freshman Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) was the leading scorer for the team, knocking in two threes, converting on a free throw, and shooting 3-9 on the night, good for 9 points. Robson would also finish with a rebound, assist, and steal. Sophomore Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) was the next leading scorer, finishing with 6 points on 3-7 shooting. 

Starter Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) played all 40 minutes of the game, alongside sophomore Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan). Luft would finish the game with 5 points and 1 rebound while Andersen ended the night with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal. 

Other contributors for the Lakers included freshman Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen) with 5 rebounds and 1 assist, Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) with 3 points and 2 rebounds, Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) 2 points and 3 rebounds, and Berit Sack (Buffalo, N.Y./ The Park School) who ended the night with 2 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal in 12 minutes played. 

The Lakers will regroup and hit the road on Monday, November 7th for a Region III matchup with the Mohawk Valley Hawks at 5:30 PM.
