Lakers Downed by the Hawks on the Road

UTICA, N.Y. - The Lakers traveled to Mohawk Valley Community College for an NJCAA Region III matchup with the Hawks on November 7th. The Hawks would walk away with the win, defeating the Lakers 85-35 in a lopsided matchup. Struggles on the boards and shooting ultimately led to the decision in favor of the Hawks.

For the Lakers, Mikaylah Pocock (Bergen, N.Y./ Byron-Bergen) led the team in rebounds, pulling in 5 offensively and 4 on defense. Pocock would also add 4 points and 1 assist to her tally against the Hawks. Leading the Lakers in scoring was freshman Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark), finishing with 9 points to go along with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals; a tie for the team-high. 

Sophomore Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) finished with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in an overall impressive stat line in the books. Followed by Andersen was starter Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) with 6 points and 1 steal, Brittany Cooper (Odessa, N.Y./ Odessa-Montour) with 3 points, Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen) who finished with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist, and sophomore Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) who wrapped up the night with 2 points and 4 rebounds.

Other Laker contributors included Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) with 3 rebounds and Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) with 2 rebounds and 1 converted free throw. 

After starting the first two games of the season on the road, the Lakers will return home this Thursday, November 10th for a 7 PM matchup with the Ithaca College Club Bombers. The event will be livestreamed and live stats will be available.
