Women's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Bombers

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Lakers women's basketball team dropped to 0-3 at home Thursday night in a non-region matchup against the Ithaca College Club team. The Lakers would fall to the Bombers 63-46 in a back-and-forth contest.
 
Sophomore Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) led the Lakers in scoring, and shooting percentage in a breakout game on the season. Andersen finished 5-11, good for 13 points. Andersen was just shy of a double-double with 8 rebounds. Andersen would also add 1 assist and 4 steals to her impressive stat line.
 
Freshman Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) was the Lakers second leading scorer with 12 points, Grady would add in 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals on the night. Followed by Grady was freshman Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals. Freshman teammates Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen) and Mikaylah Pocock (Bergen, N.Y./ Byron-Bergen) each saw 24 minutes on the floor as two of the Lakers starters.. Edmister would hit the boards with 4 rebounds, while picking up a steal and 2 points. Pocock would finish her night with 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 2 points.
 
Off the bench, freshman Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) would play 22 minutes and score 3 rebounds, dish out 5 assists, pull in 3 rebounds, and snag a steal on defense. Other contributors for the Lakers included Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) with 2 points and 1 rebound, Berit Sack (Buffalo, N.Y./ The Park School) with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist.
 
 
The Lakers next contest is at home on Saturday, November 12th at 12 PM against Onondaga Community College. The Lakers will then wra up a 3-game homestand on Monday, November 14th against the Roberts Wesleyan JV. The team will look to get back on track over the next two games.
