Lakers Drop Regional Matchup at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team battled with the visiting Lazers of Onondaga Community College at home Saturday afternoon. The #6 Lazers offensive firepower was on display, with the Lakers falling to Onondaga 87-35.

The two teams went back and forth in the 1st quarter and the Lakers would only trail by 5 at the end of one. The Lazers pulled away in the 2nd quarter, taking a 41-16 advantage into the break. From there, the Lazers would continue to pour in the baskets, ultimately taking the lopsided victory.

Freshman Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) led the Lakers with 11 points, followed by Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) with 7, and Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) with 5. Andersen would fall just short of a double-double with 9 rebounds.

Freshman Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) dished out 3 assists, tied for a team-high with teammate Izzy Robson.

Other contributors for the Lakers were Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) with 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen) 4 points and 1 steal, and Berit Sack (Buffalo, N.Y./ The Park School) with 2 points, 1 rebound, and a steal.

The Lakers next game will be at home on Monday, November 14th against the visiting Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks at 6 PM.
