Two Lakers Have Career Nights in Road Loss

CORNING, N.Y. - The Lakers battled with Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent Corning Community College Saturday night. The Red Barons, who were looking for their first win of the season would find it in a close, 41-34 win over the Lakers. The Red Barons would jump ahead with a 9-point lead to end the 1st-quarter and would ride that advantage to the conclusion of the game.

Sophomore Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) led all Lakers in scoring and rebounding, finishing with a double-double. Andersen would pour in 11 points while registering a career night on the boards with 5 offensive and 17 defensive rebounds, good for 22 on the night, the 5th-most in a game in Lakers women's basketball program history. Andersen would also dish out 3 assists while snagging 2 steals on defense.

Coming up big for the Lakers was freshman Mikaylah Pocock (Bergen, N.Y./ Byron-Bergen) who finished the night with her first career double-double. Pocock added 10 points in the scoring column, finishing with 10 rebounds; 4 offensive, and 6 defensive. Teammate Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) would come off the bench and add 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in a solid effort, while Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) added 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the start.

Also for the Lakers was Brittany Cooper (Odessa, N.Y./ Odessa-Montour) with 2 rebounds, Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen) with 4 rebounds, Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) with 3 rebounds and 1 steal, and Berit Sack (Buffalo, N.Y./ The Park School) with 1 rebound.

The Lakers return home for their next contest on Tuesday, November 22nd where they will take on the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College who are 3-2 on the year, with notable wins over Corning and Monroe Community College(s).
