Panthers Prove too Much for Lakers on the Road

DRYDEN, N.Y. - The Panthers of Tompkins Cortland Community College proved too much Wednesday night for the Lakers as the team would drop their 11th game of the season by a score of 66-33. The Lakers would only trail by 5 heading into the halftime break, but the Panthers would come out hot in the second-half, outscoring the Lakers 41-13.

Freshman Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) led all Lakers with 10 points, teammate Mikaylah Pocock (Bergen, N.Y./ Byron Bergen) led the team in rebounds with 11, and Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) would lead in the assist column with 3, also finishing the night with 7 points, 8 rebounds, and a team-high 3 steals. Robson would add 2 steals, an assist, and a rebound to her tally, while Pocock would finish the night with 2 pts, an assist, and a steal to round out her performance.

In 16 minutes played, sophomore Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) would make the most of her opportunity, finishing with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Other contributors for the Lakers included starters Allaysha Grady (Sodus, N.Y./ Sodus) and Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen), Grady would pour in 8 points to go along with a rebound and a steal, while Edmister would pull down 4 rebounds to go along with 4 points and a steal.

The Lakers struggled to convert on their opportunities from the field and the free throw line, and 24 turnovers as a team proved costly in the lopsided affair. The Lakers won't hit the court until Saturday, January 14th when they will host the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks on the Putt Moore Court in a 1 PM Region III matchup.
