Lakers Battle in Tough Home Loss

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team would start out strong against the Panthers on the Putt Moore Court, but would ultimately fall to a 58-34 finale in favor of the Panthers. The Lakers ended the 1st quarter tied 8 apiece after a strong defensive effort, but would succumb to a 2nd-quarter run which saw the Panthers outscore the Lakers, 25-4.

The Lakers were led on offense by Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists. On defense, Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) finished with 2 steals to go along with 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 asst.

Other contributors for the Lakers were Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker) and Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) who each finished with 5 points. Moody would pull in 7 rebounds while Thompson would add 3 rebounds and an assist to her tally.

Freshman Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./ Elba) would come off the bench and add 2 across the board with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Joining Luft off the bench was Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) who put together one of her strongest games of the season with 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

The Lakers are back to action tomorrow January, 22nd for a confernce matchup at SUNY Broome Community College with the Hornets.
