Lakers Celebrate Sophomore Day Against the Saints

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The FLCC (Finger Lakes Community College) women's basketball team played host to the visiting North Country Community College Saints on Saturday, February 4th on the Putt Moore Court.

The Lakers would celebrate sophomore day and student-athletes Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons)Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan)Kaliess Evans (Cato, N.Y./ Cato-Maridian)Olivia Fullerton (Clifton Springs, N.Y./ Midlakes)Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua), and Natalie Edmister (Watkins Glen, N.Y./ Watkins Glen).

Despite the occasion, the Lakers were unable to pull out a win over the Saints (11-5) and would ultimately fall by a score of 76-20. The Lakers were led by freshman Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) who paced the team's offense with 8 points, to go along with 3 rebound, and an assist and steal apiece. 

sophomore Hayley Andersen earned the start, playing 29 minutes and dropping in 2 points to go along with 6 boards, 2 assists, and defensive effort consistinhg of a block and steal apiece. Following up in the scoring column was freshman Tiana Orbaker (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) with 4 points. Sophomore Quynn Tallman would take advantage of the occasion, playing 17 minutes and scoring 2 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and a steal.

The Lakers will hit the hardwood next on Tuesday, February 4th when the team travels to Jefferson Community College for a NJCAA Region III matchup at 5 PM in Watertown, N.Y.
