Andersen's Defensive Effort Highlights Final Home Game

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team faced a tough match against the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks and ultimately fell short, losing 32-26 on the Putt Moore Court in their final home game of the regular season.

Despite the loss, the Lakers had several standout performances on the court. Sophomore Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) led the way with a team-high 14 points, sinking 4 three-pointers in the second-half to lead the Lakers after a slow start to the game. She also contributed 8 rebounds and 7 steals, making her a dominant force on both ends of the court.

Adding to the Lakers performance was freshman Alyssa Thompson (Barker, N.Y./ Barker), who scored 3 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and 3 steals in just 20 minutes of play. Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) also made an impact off the bench, scoring 5 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. Despite the loss, the Lakers put up a strong defensive effort with 15 steals as a team. On offense, the Lakers were relentless, pulling in 13 offensive board throughout the contest.

For the Lakers, the home contest marked the last home game of their regular season, and they will now hit the road for their regular season finale at Herkimer County Community College on Friday, February 10th at 3 PM. The Lakers will be looking to end the season on a high note as they take on a NJCAA Region III matchup against the Generals.
