CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team hosted the Cayuga Community College Spartans on the Putt Moore Court Thursday night for a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup. The Lakers, who struggled in their first game of the season rebounded in a big way, earning a 64-61 hard-fought victory over the Spartans.

Freshman guard Ciana Galvin (Newark, N.Y./Newark) was a force for the Lakers' offense, leading the way with 17 points. Galvin went an efficient 6-for-9 from the field while knocking down 2 three-pointers in the process. However, Galvin continued to impact the game, pulling down 8 rebounds and contributing 2 assists and 3 steals to round out an all-around performance. Teammate Alissa Mazzye (Oneida, N.Y./Stockbridge Valley) had a standout performance, pouring in a season-high 13 points and dominating the defense glass with 9 rebounds. Mazzye's perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc was pivotal to providing the Lakers with a balanced offensive attack.
