Lakers Drop Conference Matchup to Red Barons

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team hosted the Corning Community College Red Barons Saturday afternoon on the Putt Moore Court for a Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup. The Lakers who looked to avenge their loss to the Red Barons from last season will have to wait for their road trip to Corning in February as they would fall by a score of 64-30.

Freshman Ciana Galvin (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) each added 7 points apiece. Galvin's effort was notable on defense she racked up 5 steals and 1 block while pulling in 3 rebounds and dishing out an assist. Roussell would collect 4 rebounds and knock down 2 of her 3 shots from beyond the arc. Sophomore teammates Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) contributed 7 and 5 points, respectively. Robson grabbed 4 rebounds and 2 steals to add to her tally.

Despite not scoring from the field, Alissa Mazzye (Oneida, N.Y./Stockbridge Valley) made 3 of her 4 free throws and led the team with 6 rebounds. Mazzye would also dish out a team-high 4 assists to help facilitate the Lakers' offense. Off the bench, Barbara Arsenault (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) added a point and 2 rebounds to her total while swiping 2 steals on defense.

Up next for the Lakers is a non-region matchup with the visiting Red Hawks from Roberts Wesleyan College. The teams will match up next Tuesday, November 21st at 5 PM on the FLCC Putt Moore Court.
