Fourth Quarter Rally Leads Lakers to Non-Region Win

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - After being down by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, the FLCC women's basketball team rallied back to bring the game to an even 37 points by the start of the fourth quarter. The Lakers who hosted non-region opponent Roberts Wesleyan University would trade blows with the Redhawks down the stretch. It was a 3-pointer by freshman Alissa Mazzye (Oneida, N.Y./Stockbridge Valley) who sealed the deal with a 1:24 on the clock, giving the Lakers a 4-point lead.

Sophomore Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./Newark) was the standout player for the Lakers, pouring in 21 points, including an impressive 5 three-pointers on the evening. Robson's ability to find the basket from long range was crucial to the Lakers' comeback. The sophomore guard went on to lead the Lakers in assists, dishing out 6 in the game. Teammate Alissa Mazzye was efficient from beyond the arc, knocking down 3 three-pointers and finishing with 11 points. Mazzye's 7 rebounds were a team-high as the freshman forward worked both ends of the court effectively.

Sophomore Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) added 10 points, including 2 three-pointers, while adding 6 rebounds to her tally. Teammates Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) and Ciana Galvin (Newark, N.Y./Newark) each contributed 4 points, with Roussell also providing 2 assists and 2 steals, while Galvin added 4 rebounds to her state line. Coming off the bench, freshman Barbara Arsenault (Greece, N.Y./Greece Athena) helped facilitate the Lakers' offense, dishing out 3 assists.

The Lakers cap off their last game before Thanksgiving break and improve to 3-3 in the process. The Lakers will return to action next Tuesday, November 28th at 6 PM at FLCC for a matchup against the St. John Fisher University Club team where the Lakers will look to earn their 4th home game of the regular season.
