Lakers Drop Close Game to Kats

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - It was a back-and-forth matchup between the Lakers and the visiting Erie Community College Kats Thursday evening on the Putt Moore Court at FLCC. The Lakers who held an early lead would trail by as many as 11 points before bringing it back to within 5 points at the break. However, the Kats would come out of halftime and continue to extend their lead.

The Kats would lead by as many as 19 points before the Lakers would bring the game back to within 9 points. The two teams would trade buckets down the stretch but the Lakers' comeback attempt would fall short as the Kats walked away with the 51-41 victory.

Sophomore Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./Newark) emerged as the top scorer for the Lakers, contributing 15 points in 40 minutes of play. Robson would knock down 3 three-pointers and pull in 4 rebounds in an all-around game. High school and now college teammate Ciana Galvin (Newark, N.Y./Newark) added 12 points and was effective from the free-throw line, going 4-for-4. Galvin pulled down 6 rebounds while also contributing an assist and 2 steals. 

Sophomore Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) provided support with 9 points, including a three-pointer. Tallman tied Galvin's rebounding effort with 6 boards and led the team with 3 assists. Teammates Barbara Arsenault (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) and Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) had solid matchup performances. Arsenault collected 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 points to her tally while Roussell pulled in a team-high 8 rebounds while adding 3 points to her performance. Roussell was a presence on the defensive end with 2 steals and a block to her name after the game.

The Lakers are back in action next Tuesday, December 12th at 5 PM when they hit the road for Watertown, N.Y. to take on the SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers. The game, which was originally scheduled for December 2nd was canceled and subsequently rescheduled. The game will mark the last of the fall semester.
