Women's Soccer On A Four Game Win Streak

AUBURN, N.Y – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer dominated the Cayuga Community College Spartans on Saturday. The Lakers won 11-1.

The Lakers are on a hot streak. They have won the past four games they've played. They are putting themselves in a great position to get into playoffs this year.

The Lakers scored five goals in the first half. The first was from Jordan Naeye assisted by Alexis Gossage just five minutes into the game. Cassidy Niver put one in the back of the net just five minutes later, with an assist from Ashlyn Piccarreto. The third goal was Gossage's first of the game. She was assisted by Naeye. Gossage came back with another goal exactly one minute later putting the Lakers up 4-1. She was assisted by Niver. The final goal of the half was scored by Devon Reese with just over three minutes left in the half. Reese was assisted by Hannah Galloway. The Lakers finished the half up 5-1.

The Lakers came back refreshed and ready to finish out the game after halftime. The first goal of the second half was Gossage's final goal of the game. She was assisted by Niver again. Niver took her own shot for the second of the half, and scored with a pass from Gossage. Jessica Swalbach got in on the scoring action after Niver scored her second goal. Swalbach was assisted by Gossage. Defender Nadine Coleman took her turn up the field and scored on her only shot of the game. She was assisted by Danielle Zweigle. Piccarreto scored her first of the game from Swalbach. Finally Zweigle put her own shot in the back of the net to finish out the scoring of the game. The Lakers won 11-1.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Gossage with three goals and three assists, Niver with two goals and two assists, and Goalkeeper Megan Allen with one save.

The Lakers will play again at home against the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. They will play on Wednesday, September 25^th at 2:00pm.
