Alexis Gossage Commits To St. John Fisher

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer graduating sophomore Alexis Gossage, has just announced that she is officially committing to St. John Fisher College, where she will be studying Business and continuing her soccer career. Gossage was the starting forward for the Lakers during her freshmen and sophomore season.

Coming from Bloomfield High School, where she had been primarily used on defense, Gossage did not take long to transition to the collegiate game scoring the Laker’s first goal of the 2018 season and then following that up by registering 4 points in just her 4th game. In 16 games total for the 2018 season, in all of which she started, Alexis finished with a team high in goals (14), assists (9) and points (37).

Coming into her sophomore year, Gossage was voted a captain by her teammates and quickly picked up where she left off on her way to a standout season, and one of the best in FLCC Women’s Soccer history. She finished the 2019 season with 20 games played, 31 goals scored, including a stretch of 17 scored in 4 games, 14 assists, and 76 points which was good for 4th in the region and 6th in the country (NJCAA). Gossage was constantly getting praise from opposing coaches and the respect she had gained as a player on the field showed at the end of the year when she was voted to both the All-Conference and All-Region Teams.

Gossage excelled in the classroom as well, finishing the semester with a 3.93 GPA while working towards and Associates Degree in Journalism. When asked about her, Coach Doug Tay said the following, “We are beyond excited to see Alexis continue her collegiate soccer career at St. John Fisher this fall. She is a tremendous athlete who through all her success, cared little about her personal stats or accomplishments but was 100% about the team and what we as a team could do to win. It has been a real pleasure to watch her grow and mature over the past two seasons and she will be greatly misses both on and off the field within our program. Lex had a lot of programs looking for her services this fall, but selfishly, we are ecstatic she is staying close to home where we can continue to support her and follow her career. You can bet there will be a lot of FLCC apparel at Fisher home games this fall!”

The Women’s Soccer program here at FLCC is so extremely proud of Alexis and excited for the next step of her journey. Good luck at St. John Fisher!
