Bowe, Bollman Score, Women's Soccer Falls

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Freshman Allie Bowe (Victor, NY/Victor) scored a goal with an assist and sophomore Levi Bollman (Caldwell, TX/Caldwell) added a goal, but the Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team fell to Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse Thursday afternoon on FLCC's turf complex.

The Lakers (1-1) allowed a third-minute goal to fall behind 1-0 before Bowe fed Bollman for her second goal in as many games to knot the score at 1 in the eighth minute. The game remained tied until the 19th minute, when Bryant & Stratton scored the first of five unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Bowe scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 48th minute to pull the Lakers within 6-2 early in the second half. But Bryant & Stratton tacked on two more goals, and neither squad scored over the game's final 31:13.

Sophomore Sarah Barker (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) made 17 saves in the loss for the Lakers.

"We took on an extremely seasoned and technical Bryant & Stratton team that was nothing short of clinical in building a well-deserved 6-1 halftime lead," said Brian LoPresto, in his first year leading the women's soccer program.

"Our halftime discussion revolved around recognizing the other team's ability, dealing with the remote probability of winning, and focusing simply on winning the second half, starting with getting the first goal of that half. I asked for effort, heart, and grit, and our student-athletes gave it."

The Lakers travel to Genesee Community College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20 before welcoming Bryant & Stratton College-Syracuse to campus at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 23.
