Women's Soccer Splits on Opening Weekend

HUDSON — The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team earned a split on opening weekend of the 2021 season.

After dropping a 13-1 decision to nationally ranked Mohawk Valley Community College Saturday afternoon, the Lakers (1-1) responded with a resounding 9-1 triumph against Columbia-Greene Community College Sunday.

Sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./Victor) scored FLCC's lone goal in the season opener vs. the No. 3 Hawks (1-0), then added three goals in the victory against the Twins (0-1).

Freshman Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./Victor) scored twice vs. Columbia-Greene, while freshman Kailee Lewis (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield), sophomore Sarah Nelson (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield), freshman Grace Hall (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) and sophomore Nichaela Commisso (Rushville, N.Y./Marcus Whitman) added goals as FLCC split its weekend series.

Freshman Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) made two saves to earn her first collegiate win in goal.

The Lakers host Onondaga Community College at 4 p.m. on September 10 in their home opener.
