Women's Soccer Improves to 2-2

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team evened its record at 2-2 thanks to a 3-1 victory against Jamestown Community College Wednesday night at FLCC's turf facility.

The Jayhawks played relentless defense in the first half, but the Lakers finally struck first in the 18th minute off the foot of sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./Victor). The Jayhawks tied the game in the 30th minute, and the score remained deadlocked heading into halftime.

The Lakers came out in the second half as a completely different team, recording 26 shots on goal. In the 53rd minute, Bowe took a corner kick and sent it directly to the foot of freshman Grace Hall (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua), who converted for a 2-1 lead.

FLCC extended its lead to 3-1 in the 69th minute, when sophomore Sarah Nelson (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) punched in an unassisted goal, and freshman goalie Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) made seven saves on the night to seal the win.

The Lakers look to carry their momentum over to Friday afternoon when St. John Fisher's JV squad comes to campus for a 4 p.m. contest. The Lakers then complete their homestand Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. against Monroe Community College.
