Lakers Rally to Secure Tie

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Women's Soccer tied with the St. John Fisher College Cardinals Friday night in a back-and-forth match. The two squad were evenly matched in the game and traded punches throughout the contest.

Alice Wanzenried (Rochester, N.Y.) struck first for the Lakers, giving the Lakers the 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game. The Cardinals struck back, scoring three straight goals to give the team a 3-1 lead in the 33'. The Lakers closed the gap in the 33' as Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) chipped in the goal. However, Riley Grimm of the Cardinals extended the Cardinals lead to end the first half with a 4-2 lead. Riley Grimm ended the first half with 4 goals for the Cardinals. 

The Lakers kept fighting, as Nichaela Commisso (Rushville, N.Y./Marcus Whitman) punched in a goal in the 46'. The Lakers rallied back to tie the game off the foot of Morgan Collazo and the assist by Jenna Tenney in the 65'The Cardinals didn't let up, as Julia Netto gave the team a 5-4 lead in the 75', surely to seal the game for the Cardinals. However, the Lakers had other plans, as Sophomore Forward Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) tied the game for the Lakers. 

Freshman goalie Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) made 10 saves on the night to secure the tie for the Lakers. Women's Soccer moves to 2-2-1 on the season and they look to carry-over their performance to Sunday afternoon when they play host to Monroe Community College in a Regional matchup at 12 PM.
