Lakers Pick Up Convincing Win

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer team picked up a convincing 5-1 victory over the visiting Raiders of Fulton-Montgomery Community College Saturday, Oct. 16th. The Lakers controlled the tempo for the majority of the game, supported by strong defensive play.

The Lakers got on the board first when Allie Bowe (Victory, N.Y./ Victor) punched in a goal unassisted in the 26'. Teammate Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) added to the Lakers total in the 33' off from an unassisted goal as well.

The Lakers entered the second half with a 2-0 lead. Allie Bowe scored her second goal of the game thanks to an assist Morgan Collazo in the 55'. The Raiders avoided the shutout in the 76' when Kailee Jasewicz chipped in a goal to narrow the lead to 4-1. The Lakers made quick work to add to their lead again, when Sophomore Sarah Nelson (Bloomfield, N.Y./ Bloomfield) punched in the goal thanks to a feed from teammate Jenny Easling (Red Creek, N.Y./ Red Creek).

Lakers Freshman goalie Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) helped secure the win for the team, making 11 saves in 90' of play. The Lakers improve to 9-5-1 with the win, as they look to build on a 2-game win streak. The Lakers travel to play the Roberts Wesleyan JV on Monday, Oct. 18 for a 6:30 P.M. match.
