Lakers Fall in Regular Season Finale

DICKINSON, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer team dropped their regular season finale to the Hornets of SUNY Broome Community College, 5-3. The Lakers fall to their conference opponent as they look ahead to the Region III playoffs.

The Lakers defense could not slow down the Hornet offense, as they responded to each Laker goal. The Lakers struck first in the match however, Sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) chipped in a goal thanks to a pass from Sarah Nelson (Bloomfield, N.Y./ Bloomfield) in the 25'. However, the Hornets responeded, evening the score 1-1, as the two teams went into the break tied.

The Hornets started off the second half on fire, chipping in back-to-back goals in the 55' and 56' to grow their lead 3-1. The Lakers responded when Freshman Halee Passarell (Holley, N.Y./ Holley) chipped in a goal off from a pass from Allie Bowe to narrow the lead, 3-2. However, the Hornets stung back, scoring back-to-back goals in the 83' and 86' to grow their lead 5-2. Sophomore Allie Bowe rouned out the scoring for the Lakers, chipping a goal off from a set piece in the 86' leading to a 5-3 finish. Bowe finished with 2 goals and 1 assist to lead the Lakers, While Freshman Goalie Mackenzie Johnson-Bosermade 8 saves for the Lakers on the afternoon.

The Lakers rounded out their regular season as they await their Region III playoff opponent.
