HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season after shutting out the Generals of Herkimer College in a 4-0 final.
The Lakers controlled the time of possession in the matchup and capitalized on scoring opportunities in the game. Freshman Ella Lewis (Lyndonville, N.Y./ Lyndonville) led the Lakers' offensive attack, scoring a hat trick to guide the team to victory. Sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) would chip in a goal and two assists from the forward position.
Freshman Adiah Northrup (Naples, N.Y./ Naples) and Sophomore Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) would each pick up an assist to set up their teammates. Sophomore goalie Grace Hall (Honeoye, N.Y./ Honeoye) would lead the shutout performance, making 7 saves on the day.
The Lakers will return home next Saturday in a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III matchup with the Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders. The team will look to continue to build off of two strong showings on the pitch.
