Lakers Drop a Close One at Home

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Lakers women's soccer team hosted the visiting Lazers from Onondaga Community College Saturday, October 1st for an NJCAA Region III matchup. The Lazers, who came into the game 3-3 and put together an impressive fight against the Lakers.

In the 87th minute of the game, down 2-1, Grace Hall (Honeoye, N.Y./ Honoeye) made a crucial save parrying the ball away from attacking Lazer forwards. The team would have several opportunities down the stretch but could not capitalize. Hall finished the match, playing 90 minutes in goal, with only 2 goals allowed and 8 saves.

Freshman Ella Lewis (Lyndonville, N.Y./ Lyndonville) would pick up the lone goal for the Lakers, on 5 shots in the match. Sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) would have 2 shots on goal with 4 total shots in the matchup. Sophomore midfielder Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) picked up a team-high 4 shots on goal. 

The team will look to regroup and rebound after dropping their third-straight match. The Lakers will face a challenge when they travel to #4 Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, October 5th at 4 PM for a highly anticipated NJCAA Region III matchup with their nationally ranked foe.
