Women's Soccer Suffers Loss at Hudson Valley

TROY, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team hit the road for the first time after opening up at home against the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. The Lakers would travel to Hudson Valley Community College to take on the Vikings for a NJCAA Region III match. The match would serve as the Vikings season and home opener for the 2023 season. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Vikings would earn their first win of the season in a 9-0 rout.

The Lakers would split the duties at goalkeeper as freshman Hannah Cowen (Austin, TX/ Dripping Springs) earned the start playing 45' and making 6 saves before fellow freshman Emily Neuenschwander (Hamilton, N.Y./ Hamilton) would finish the second half and make 4 saves in 45' of play.

Freshman Ava Recktenwald (Lima, N.Y./ Honeoye Falls-Lima) had the lone shot for the Lakers in the match from her defensive position.

The Lakers will have a week off before hitting the road for a matchup with SUNY Adirondack next Saturday, September 9th at 1 PM.
