Lakers Explode for 5 Goals in Win Over SUNY Broome

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - On a rainy Sunday at the FLCC multi-use turf facility, the Lakers would earn their second win of the regular season in a strong performance against SUNY Broome Community College. The Lakers would explode for 5 goals in a 5-3 win over their Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent.

Both teams put their offensive firepower on display in the high-scoring affair. Freshman Andre Budrich (Saxony, Germany/ Oberland Gymnasium Seifhennersdorf) netted the Lakers first and second goals of the match to give the team an early 2-0 advantage thanks to pinpoint passing from teammates Vojtech Bartosek (Prague, Czech Republic/ Anglicko-Ceske Gymnazium Amazon) and Sergio Baron (Bogota, Colombia/ Liceo Matovelle) who earned the assists.

However, the Hornets would keep the pressure on, earning several strong opportunities in the first half and would convert on one to bring the Lakers lead to a narrow 1-goal margin heading into the break. Freshman Daniel Medina (Mexico City, Mexico/ Tec Monterrey Santa Fe) would come up big in the 50', scoring his 2nd goal of the season and extending the Lakers lead to 3-1 off a pass from fellow classmate Joao Antonio Rocha (Sergipe, Brazil/ Colegio Master).

The Hornets relentless pressure allowed them to bring the game back within striking distance, scoring just 2 minutes later in the 52'. However, it wasn't until late in the match that the Lakers would close out the win with back-to-back goals in the 81' and 84' off from the feet of teammates Joao Antonio Rocha and Marius Dalidet (Oullins, France/ Saint-Thomas D'Aquin-Veritas).

Freshman goalkeeper Diego Reyna (Guatemala/ Bilingue Vista Hermosa) was as consistent as they come, making several key saves down the stretch to secure the Lakers' victory. Reyna would add 7 saves to his tally to round out a strong performance.

The Hornets would notch a goal in the final minutes of the match, but the Lakers' late surge proved too much as the Lakers earned their second home win of the regular season. The team will look to take the momentum into their next match on Saturday, September 30th against the North Country Community College Saints at the FLCC multi-use turf facility at 3 PM.
