Track and field kicks off the 2021 season

UTICA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College women's and men's track and field teams opened the 2021 season Sunday afternoon at Mohawk Valley Community College. In windy and rainy conditions, freshman Chyra Patterson (Bronx, NY) was FLCC's lone female competitor, and among her highlights were solid performances in both the 100 and 200 meter races.

For the men, sophomore Adam Schreiber (Williamson, NY/Williamson) set a personal best in the 5K, finishing with a time of 18 minutes and 57 seconds. Schreiber bettered his previous personal best time by more than ninety seconds during FLCC's season opening competition.

Sophomore Giovanni Ventura (Geneva, NY/Geneva) competed in both the 1,500 and 400 meters, with his best effort coming in the 400 with a time of 56 seconds. Sophomore Nicholas Shengulette (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) ran in both the 100 and 200 meters as well for the Lakers.

The Lakers' next meet is this Saturday, April 3, back at Mohawk Valley Community College.
