Track and Field Teams Compete at Houghton

CANANDAIGUA — The Finger Lakes Community College track and field teams traveled to Houghton College on Saturday, competing in the annual Highlander Invitational.

Seven male student-athletes and six female student-athletes represented the Lakers at the competition, which featured teams from across the state, including Division I schools St. Bonaventure and Canisius.

For FLCC's men, Hunter Zangerle recorded a seventh-place finish in the triple Jump with an effort of 38 feet, 3 1/2 inches, Memphis Lohnes placed eighth in the pole vault (11 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Zangerle also competed in the long jump (17 feet, 10 1/2 inches) and the 200 meters (25.48 seconds), while Dominic Lafferty was ninth in the long jump (19 feet, 1 3/4 inches) and also competed in the 200 meters (27.41 seconds) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.90 seconds) for FLCC.

Jacob DiGiovanni ran a personal-best time in the 3,000 meters (11:39.85), while Gio Ventura (5:05.73) and Kyle Green (5:38.39) ran in the mile run, and Trevor Walker (2:23.72) ran in the 800 meters. In the 3,200-meter relay, Ventura, Green, DiGiovanni and Walker ran in 9:59.91.

For the women, FLCC's 800-meter relay team of Ericka Moody, Sarah Woerner, Leah Lloyd and Chyra Patterson placed third with a time of 2:08.91.

Lloyd finished fourth in the 800 (2:35.80) and was 10th in the mile (5:42.29), Morgan Collazo was sixth in the shot put (31 feet, 11 1/4 inches), and Patterson earned a ninth-place finish in the long jump (14 feet, 1 3/4 inches). Patterson also ran the 60 (8.92) and 200 meters (30.31), Morgan Ward ran the 60 (10.88), and Moody ran the 200 (29.72) and competed in the long jump (13 feet, 9 1/2 inches) and the shot put (25 feet).
