Jessie Klenk Announced as Assistant Coach of FLCC Track and Field Program

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) Athletics is proud to announce Jessie Klenk as the next Assistant Coach of the men's and women's track and field teams. Klenk brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, which has seen its fair share of success over the past few seasons, including a NJCAA Region III Championship by the men's squad in 2022 and back-to-back national championships in the 3000m steeplechase from Leah Lloyd in 2022 and 2023 on the women's side.

Klenk, a graduate of Sterling High School in Somerdale, Camden County, New Jersey, was a four-year starter on the Silver Knights track and field team and competed in events including pole vault, javelin, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. From her sophomore year on, Klenk was named an All-Conference selection and was pivotal in helping the Silver Knights secure back-to-back state championships in her junior and senior seasons. Following a successful high school career, Klenk continued her track and field career just an hour down the road at Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey, which competes at the NCAA Division III level. Klenk tested her athletic abilities as a member of the Ospreys track and field team as she expanded her events to include javelin, heptathlon, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m. A testament to her leadership and skill, Klenk was named team captain during her junior and senior years. Klenk's collegiate career included several accolades including USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors from 2021-2023, 2021 Spring Track and Field NJAC Champion, and 2022 Winter Track and Field NJAC Champion.

Klenk earned NCAC First Team All-Conference honors in winter and spring track in 2021, Second Team All-Conference in spring 2022, and Honorable Mentions across several seasons. However, Klenk's most impressive achievement was being named the Stockton University representative for the NJAIAW 2022 Women of the Year. The NJAIAW celebrates the women and girls of New Jersey and their contributions to sports. The event includes female student-athletes from various high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the State of New Jersey. Beyond her athletic achievements, Klenk has a rich background in coaching, having volunteered at various local organizations and camps hosted by her college. Klenk has experience in organizing and facilitating youth races in cross country. Her love for track and field extends to all aspects of the sport, "from the diversity of events to the unique atmosphere of practices and competitions, I'm extremely excited to have this opportunity to dive back into the track and field world through this opportunity," said Klenk.

When not on the track, Klenk works as a Laboratory Technician at Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester, while also serving as an EMT.
