Lakers Fall in Four Sets to Corning

CORNING, NY-- The Lakers jumped out to an early 1-0 set lead by a score of 25-14, only to those sets 2, 3 and 4 to the Corning Red Barons (18-25, 17-25, 23-25). Corning remains undefeated on the seaon, while the loss puts the Lakers at 11-7 overall, and 1-3 in the conference.

Ryenn Smith contributed 17 kills and 15 digs. Smith continues her streak of leading the Lakers in kills and digs. Courtney Bradish chipped in 8 digs and 8 kills, while Jessie Blumenfeld connected with attackers consistently to give her 31 assists on the night. Blumenfeld also led servers with 4 aces. Ali Drier had a big night at the net with 3 solo blocks, 3 block assists and 4 kills. Bridget Whitehair and Christina Denniston rounded out the defensive effort with 9 and 11 digs respectively.

"I liked our energy during set 1, but we became inconsistent and that led to the loss," said head coach Matt Barr. "We are excited to host Regional POD play this weekend and are looking forward to getting back on the court".

The Lakers are hosting Regional POD play this Saturday, September 28th. Match play will begin at 10 a.m. The Lakers will face off against Erie Community College, Jamestown Community College and Niagara County Community College.
