Lakers Go 1-2 at Monroe POD

The FInger Lakes Community College Women's Volleyball team went 1-2 at the Monroe POD on Saturday.  They faced Jefferson Community College, Cayuga Community College and Onondaga Community College.  The Lakers are now 9-6 on the season.  

The Lakers first game was against Jefferson Community College where they lost in five sets by scores of 25-19, 15-25, 21-25, 25-22 and 13-15.  Finger Lakes was strong attacking Jefferson.  Celyna Levesque and McKenna Guarasce scored 13 kills with Levesque adding 2 aces.  Brianne Avary had 24 assists.  Katee Martinez was strong in the defense recording 22 digs for the Lakers.  The Lakers battled hard but came up just short in the 5th set.

The second match for FLCC was against Cayuga Community College where they won in five sets by scores of 24-26, 25-18, 9-25, 25-13 and 15-10.  The Lakers continued to used their attacking force, this time to come out on top.  Gaurasce led the attack with 10 kills on 23 attempts with 5 aces and 22 assists.  Levesque had 8 kills and 4 assists in the match.  Martinez recorded 21 digs for the Lakers.

The final match of the day was against Onondaga Community College where the Lakers lost in 3 sets by scores of 21-25, 22-25 and 23-25.  Gaurasce againt led the attack with 9 kills on 27 attempts.  Danielle Cox and Celyna Levesque both had 6 kills.  Avary had 16 assists for the Lakers.  Martinez recorded 20 more digs against the Lazers.  She had She had 63 digs on the day.  

The Lakers will return on Wednesday, 9/23 as they travel to face Corning Comminity College.  The match is set to begin at 6pm.
