Women's Volleyball finishes 1-2 at Jefferson Tournament

The Finger Lakes Community College volleyball team finished 1-2 this past weekend after competing in a tournament at Jefferson Community College on Saturday, September 3.  The Lakers faced Jefferson CC, Corning CC an Mohawk Valley CC during the tournament.

The Lakers were defeated by the Cannoneers of Jefferson CC in two sets by scores of  26-28 and 15-25.  McKenna Guarasce (Lacona, NY) led the Lakers with four kills and Katee Martinez (Helper, UT) finished with nine digs.  

The Lakers were later defeated by the Red Barons from Corning Community College in two sets with scores of 16-25 and 18-25.  Taiya Iniguez (Jackson, CA) had three kills while Guarasce and Madison Joseph (Honeoye Falls, NY) had two kills apiece.   Martinez led the Lakers with eight digs in the match.  

In their final match of the day, the Lakers defeated the Hawks from Mohawk Valley CC in two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-13.  Lindsay Howell (Macedon, NY) finished with five kills.  Joseph had four kills and five digs.  Martinez finished with six assists and six digs.  Brianne Avery (Trumansburg, NY) led the Lakers with nine assists.  

The Lakers will return to action on Wednesday, September 7 when they face the Cannoneers from Jefferson CC in a MSAC matchup.  The match is set to begin at 6pm.
