The NJCAA Region III announced their women's volleyball All-Region team following Saturday's Region III tournament at Niagara County Community College. Katee Martinez and Madison Joseph were both named to the All Region team after the Lakers finished 5-4 in the tournament.
Madison Joseph, who was named to the MSAC All-Conference team on week ago, received NJCAA 2nd team All-Region III honors for the Lakers. She was named team co-captain for the Lakers and has been a great leader for the freshman. Joseph finishes the season third place in the region with 277 kills and an average of 2.83 kills/set. She is second on the team with 349 digs, averaging 3.59 digs/set. Joseph was also named to the Region III All-Tournament team.
Katee Martinez, who was also named to the MSAC All-Conference team, also received NJCAA 2nd team All-Region III honors. Martinez is a two-year starter for the Lakers and is a team co-captain. She finished the season leading the region in digs/set, averaging 6.08 digs/set and was second with 553 total digs. Martinez finishes her career with 1037 digs, one of many program records that she holds.
The Lakers finished their 2016 season with a 19-11 record after a 5-4 finish at the Region III Pool Play. They began their day by defeating Corning Community College 3-0 by scores of: 25-21,25-18, and 25-21. Next, the Lakers were defeated by Erie Community College 2-1 by scores of: 26-24, 23-25, and 20-25. In their final match of the day, The Lakers fell to Fulton Montgomery Community College 2-1 by scores of: 25-22, 15-25, and 16-25.
