First Match of GCC POD Too Much For Lakers

BATAVIA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Volleyball team competed in the Genesee Community College POD this past Saturday. Their first match was against the SUNY Adirondack Timber Wolves. The Lakers lasted only three sets, losing all three, making the score, 3-0.

It was a rough start for the Lakers in the first set. They went down 25-15. They seemed to pick up a little in the second set, only losing 25-22. They fought their hardest in the third, and final set. They forced the Timber Wolves into extra points, but could not finish, and lost 26-24.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Rachel Simmons with 12 kills and six service aces, Kady Pierce with 21 assists, Megan Gass with 20 digs, and Haydn Carr with two blocks.

The Lakers went on to play Hudson Valley Community College, and North Country Community College later in the day.
