Volleyball Goes 2-2 At Jefferson CC Tournament

WATERTOWN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Volleyball team competed in the Jefferson Community College Tournament on Saturday. They played Cayuga Community College, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Jefferson Community College, and Monroe Community College. They went 2-2 on the tournament.

Match One

The first match of the day was against the Cayuga Community College Spartans. The match went into two sets, the Lakers won both of them. In the first set, the Lakers had eight kills, three errors, and 20 total attack attempts, with a score of 25-13. In the second set the Lakers had seven kills, four errors, and 30 total attack attempts, with a score of 25-18.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Morgan Testa with five kills, Kady Pierce with 12 assists, Kellie Johnson with five service aces, and Malori Waag with four digs.

Match Two

The second match for the Lakers was against the Fulton-Montgomery Community College Raiders. The match went into two sets again with the Lakers winning both. The first set was 25-21 with 11 kills, four errors, and 20 total attack attempts. The second set was 25-12 with four kills, three errors, and 11 total attack attempts.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Brandy Morrison with 10 kills, Pierce with 17 assists, Katie Harmon with three service aces, Waag with three digs, and Testa with two blocks.

Match Three

The third match of the day was against the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers. The match went into three sets. The Lakers won the first set, and lost the next two sets. In set one, the Lakers had 16 kills, two errors, and 40 total attack attempts with a score of 25-22. In set two, the Lakers had 10 kills, six errors, and 26 total attack attempts, with a score of 25-13. In the final set, the Lakers had eight kills, six errors, and 30 total attack attempts.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Morrison with 10 kills, Brookelyn Kunzer with 30 assists and 13 digs, and Harmon with five blocks.

Match Four

The fourth and final match of the day was against the Monroe Community College Tribunes. The match went into two sets with the Tribunes winning both. In the first set, the Lakers had seven kills, seven errors, and 29 total attack attempts, with a score of 25-19. In the final set, the Lakers had seven kills, five errors, and 29 total attack attempts, with a score of 25-20.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Harmon with six kills and seven digs, Pierce with 12 assists, Marie Rogers with three service aces, and Kunzer with seven digs

 

The Lakers will compete again on Tuesday, September 10th at Cayuga Community College. They will play at 6:00pm.
