Volleyball Goes 2-1 at Home POD

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Volleyball team competed in the FLCC POD on Saturday. They played Niagara County Community College, Jamestown Community College, and Erie Community College. They went 2-1 on the weekend.

Match One

The first match of the day was against the Niagara County Community College Thunder Wolves. The Lakers won the match 3-0.

In set one the Lakers had seven kills, nine errors, and 28 total attack attempts. The Thunder Wolves had nine kills, two errors, and 21 total attack attempts. The Lakers won this set, 25-16.

The set two the Lakers had eight kills, four errors, and 22 total attack attempts. The Thunder Wolves had 12 kills, three errors, and 22 total attack attempts. The Lakers won this set 25-19.

In the final set, the Lakers had five kills, eight errors, and 21 total attack attempts. The Thunder Wolves had nine kills, two errors, and 23 total attack attempts. The Lakers won 25-12, giving them the winning score of 3-0.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Katie Harmon with nine kills, and two service aces, Brookelyn Kunzer with 24 assists, Allison Emmick with six kills, and six digs, and Sydney Passalacqua with one kill, one service ace, one dig, and two blocks.

Match Two

The second match of the day was against the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. The Lakers lost the match 3-0.

In set one, the Lakers fought hard for the win and went into extra points. The Jayhawks took the win. The Lakers had 13 kills, six errors, and 39 total attack attempts. The Lakers lost the set 27-25.

In set two the Lakers had seven kills, one error, and 19 total attack attempts. The Lakers lost this set 25-20.

In the final set, the Lakers had nine kills, six errors, and 34 total attack attempts. The Lakers lost this set 25-20, and lost the match 3-0.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Brandy Morrison with 11 kills, and two blocks, Rachel Sampson with one service ace and 14 digs, and Kunzer with 28 assists and nine digs.

Match Three

The third and final match of the day was against the Erie Community College Kats. The Lakers won the match 3-1.

In set one the Lakers had 12 kills, five errors, and 36 total attack attempts. The Lakers won the set 25-18.

In set two the Lakers had six kills, four errors, and 31 total attack attempts. The Lakers just let this set slip by, losing 25-23. The score was now tied 1-1.

In set three the Lakers had 11 kills, four errors, and 37 total attack attempts. The Lakers won 25-19. They were back in the lead.

In the final set of the day, the Lakers had 12 kills, two errors, and 25 total attack attempts. The Lakers won this one 25-23. They would win the match 3-1.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Morrison with 14 kills, five digs, and two blocks, Kunzer with 38 assists, two service aces, and five digs, Harmon with nine kills, four service aces and 17 digs, and Sampson with one service ace and 20 digs.

The Lakers will play next on Wednesday, October 2nd. They will travel to Tompkins Cortland Community College. They will start at 6:00pm.
