Lakers Sweep Panthers in Three Sets

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Volleyball team swept the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers in three sets on Wednesday. The Lakers won 3-0.

The Panthers seemed to be keeping up during the first two sets of the night. The Lakers won 25-21 in the first, and 25-23 in the second. The third set is where the Lakers really dominated to end the match.

In the first set the Lakers had nine kills, six errors, and 30 total attack attempts. The Panthers had seven kills, two errors, and 15 total attack attempts. The Lakers took the set 25-21.

In the second set the Lakers had nine kills, six errors, and 42 total attack attempts. The Panthers had eight kills, four errors, and 25 total attack attempts. The Lakers won this one 25-23.

In the final set the Lakers had 10 kills, five errors, and 27 total attack attempts. The Panthers had three kills, four errors, and 19 total attack attempts. The Lakers won the final set 25-13, and took the match 3-0.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Katie Harmon with 10 kills and two service aces, Brookelyn Kunzer with 26 assists, two service aces, and eight digs, and Morgan Testa with two kills and seven blocks.

The Lakers will play again on Saturday, October 5th at the Herkimer College POD. The Lakers will play Herkimer College, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, and Mohawk Valley Community College.
