Lloyd, Rose earn 1st and 2nd Place Finishes

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Cross-Country team completed a dominate showing at the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 23rd. The MSAC Championship was hosted by Tompkins Cortland Community College. 

Lakers Freshman Leah Lloyd (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) continued on her historic Lakers season, earning a 1st place finish and completing the 5k course in 21 minutes and 32.3 seconds. Lloyd's 1st place finish was the first since 1996 when Lakers X/C athlete Jamie Colemon completed back-to-back Mid-State Athletic Conference 1st place finishes. 

Lloyd's stellar performance earned her a second National Athlete of the Week honor after a dominating run at the MSAC championship. Over the course of the season, Lloyd has made her mark as one of the top Junior College runners in Region III and all of the NJCAA.

Lakers Freshman Elizabeth Rose continued her stellar showing for the Lakers, earning a 2nd place finish for the Lakers. Rose finished the 5k course in 23 minutes and 29.4 seconds. Lakers Freshman Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) capped out the race for the Lakers, completing the 5k course in 35 minutes and 41.6 seconds. 

The Lakers look to build on their dominate season as they look ahead to the National Junior College Region III championship hosted at Finger Lakes Community College on Oct. 30th
